The task of cladding your bathroom has never been so simple, thanks to this introductory video created by our team. In addition to a step-by-step guide, they also offer their professional advice gained from years working in the industry. They tackle issues such as uneven walls and the benefits of cladding over tiles.
Before you begin
It’s important to note that if you’re fixing cladding over an electrical fixture or fitting, you won’t be able to simply clad over the top. By law, every connection must be available for inspection and testing maintenance, and there’s also a risk of arching, overheating or electrocution if you cover the area.
Use a qualified electrician if in any doubt, but you should make sure to isolate the connection if you plan on covering it.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when installing wall panelling. Our bathroom wall panels, for example, have tongue and groove mechanisms making them easier to install than some other cladding – so if you follow our instructions, it will be a pain-free process. Furthermore, if you're are renovating your kitchen and are wondering how to fit kitchen wall panels, we have covered this in another blog. Enjoy renovating your house pain-free!
Tools required
- Cladding
- Adhesive
- Tape measure
- Drill
- Screws
- Jigsaw
- Sandpaper
Step 1: Ensure trim is installed
Our wet wall panels slot directly into our trim solutions, so if you are planning on adding trim for an extra-professional finish, then do this first.
Step 2: Measure out your panels
Using a tape measure, measure your wall from floor to ceiling and take a note of the figure. Then, mark this out on your wall panel.
Step 3: Cut wall panel to size
Using a jigsaw, cut the wall panel to the required length and sand down any rough or scrappy edges.
Step 4: Apply adhesive
Apply your chosen adhesive to the back of the wall panel in an S shape.
Step 5: Install panelling
Place the panel onto the wall, placing it into the coving and external trims. When the panel is in place, add screws into the tongue section of the panel. If installing wet wall panels over tiles, screw into the grout line for optimal affects. Repeat until the room is complete.
