What is a window reveal?
A window reveal is the surround of a window unit – the base of which is often referred to as the windowsill.
Tools required
- Tape measure
- Saw
- Stanley knife
- Adhesive
Step 1: Measure and cut your panels
Using your tape measure, measure the length and width of each side of your window reveal. Use a saw to cut these, and sand off the edges. A professional tip is to cut one side off your panel with a Stanley knife at an angle, to get rid of the factory finish and create an aesthetically pleasing windowsill.
Step 2: Add adhesive and install
Add adhesive to the back of the panels and prepare to install these. Trim should already be in place around the window reveal, so slot the panels into this as you go along. Begin with the top panel, and use the side panels to secure this. The bottom will then help to secure the side panels also.
