This video will show you what a coving trim looks like, where your screws should be placed and how the panels will fit into it. You will also be given helpful tips such as what the spacing between each screw should be, both in metric and imperial measurements.
Why should you use cladding trim?
Cladding trims are a decorative addition to wall panels, creating a smooth and professional finish. You can find plain trims, as well as trims to match your wall panels exactly. Fitting coving trims will elevate your wall panel project, creating a uniform look.
How to measure coving trim
To measure for trims, you should simply measure each internal corner that you need to cover using a tape measure. When making your calculations, ensure you allow for a full trim for each edge run. Jointing trims along the same area can look untidy, so it’s better to have a continuous, single trim for each edge.
Tools required
- Trim
- Tape measure
- Tin snips or mitre saw
- Drill
- Screws
Step 1: Measure your coving trim
As we’ve already mentioned, use a tape measure to measure each internal corner where you want your coving trim to sit. The wall panels will slot into the trim, so be sure to measure the top of every wall you are installing panels on to.
Step 2: Cut your coving trim
Measure your trim to fit the measurements you’ve just taken, and using tin snips or a mitre saw, cut them to size.
Step 3: Install your coving trim
Using a drill, install your coving trim to the wall. We recommend placing a screw every 12 inches to ensure that it is thoroughly attached. Now, you’re ready to install your wall panels and finish the room.
